IMPORTANT NOTE

Hello, and welcome.
I would like to inform you that I AM MOVING.
...well, sort of. I have started a new blog, Oui Crochet, that focuses just on crochet, crochet patterns, and crochet resources. I am in the process of building it up as a one stop shop for all things crochet, and I am very excited about it. I hope you will come over and check out my progress. :)
I will be moving my patterns from this site, to my new site. My idea is to leave this site active, so that you can still access other aspects of this site. I will also leave a modified "introduction" post where each pattern is on this site, as to keep all links active and make it so that you can easily locate the pattern's new home. As an added bonus, you will also find new printable/downloadable versions of my patterns.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I assure you, this change is a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at Oui Crochet.
Happy Crocheting!

Lacy V-Stitch Scarf {free crochet pattern}

Last week, I shared the Granny Stripes Scarf (and free pattern) that I made to donate to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. If you would like to join along, you can read the details HERE.

Today, I would like to share another scarf that I made. It uses a really fun stitch that I found HERE.

I really enjoyed making this scarf. The stitches were easy and I enjoyed making it. I am very happy with the result, and I am already thinking of making another one for myself!
*Update* I ended up gifting this scarf to my mother-in-law. So,  will make another to donate, then consider making another for myself. ;-)

Granny Stripes Scarf {free crochet pattern}

I told you all last week that I am going to be crocheting some warm weather items to donate to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
I thought I would share with you the pattern of one of the scarves I am making to donate. I wanted something simple and fairly quick to work up, so I decided to go with Granny Stripes. I've worked with Granny Stripes before when making my daughter's Color Burst Blanket, and thought it would make a warm, pretty scarf.
 I decide to work the scarf lengthwise, leaving longer ends as I switched colors. The ends will blend in nicely with a fringe added at the end. No worrying about weaving in all of those loose ends!

Hurricane Sandy: Auction for Help

A big thank you to everyone participating in running & donating to this auction. And a HUGE thank you to Lauren of Tutus & Tea Parties for working so incredibly hard to put the auction together. Many people don't realize all of the time and work that goes on behind the scenes to organize such an event, and Lauren has done it in only a few short days. I encourage you to go over to Lauren's blog post and give her a thank you to show her how much her efforts are appreciated.
Today's auction will be found here and you can bid in the comment section of each post/item.

There are a variety of items up for grabs including products, ad spaces and gift cards. Some are available worldwide, some only to US; some are free shipping and some winning bidders will be required to pay shipping. You can use the labels on the side of this page to search around for what you might want to bid on.

Lauren will be accepting donation items until Wednesday, November 14th. If you would like to add an item to the auction, please fill out this form and Lauren will get it posted as soon as she can.

The auction will end on Sunday, November 18th at midnight. All winning bidders will be contacted by email by Wednesday, November 20th. Please do not bid if you have no intentions of paying for the item. All money will be collected through PayPal and donated to Occupy: Sandy Relief NYC. Lauren been following them on Facebook (as well as other relief pages) and she has found them to be super helpful in reaching out to communities, not only in NYC, but in other areas of need. They are the one's delivering & collecting items and physically reaching out to those who need help. We feel like the money raised would do loads of good there.

Crochet, Knit, and Sew Your Way to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

I posted yesterday about Lauren's (from Tutus and Tea Parties) auction to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. You can read that post HERE, if you missed it.

Today I would like to tell you of another way to help the victims of the hurricane.
Sara from My Merry Messy Life, is partnering with Lauren to recruit others to donate warm winter items.
Here’s a little background – Remember A Crafter's Dream Christmas Giveaway that we just had? Well, Sara hosted her part of the giveaway event with Red Heart Yarns. The winner chosen, Susan, happens to be volunteering in New Jersey for the Hurricane Sandy relief and is going to use the yarn in her stitching groups to crochet and knit hats, scarves and blankets to donate to local organizations! She is one heck of a lady, and gets all the credit for setting the ball in motion. Sara realized that she had a unique opportunity as a blogger to make a difference herself by rallying all the talented bloggers and fans she knows to help as well.

As soon as I heard about her efforts, I jumped on board. I will be crocheting some hats and scarves to donate (I will post them, as I finish them).
If you knit, crochet, and/or sew, we would love for you to join us, too! You don't have to be a blogger to participate.

Hurricane Sandy: How To Help

There is no doubt that we have all heard about and seen the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.  It is heartbreaking to hear of such a tragedy. Many people lost family members, homes, cars, and so many memories. My friend Lauren, has come up with a wonderful way for us to help those affected by the hurricane. She is going to set up an auction as a fundraiser to help heal those who have lost so much.

Do you have something you'd like to donate? It can be anything from a handmade item to ad space on your blog! Please take a moment to fill out this form. The auction will be posted on Lauren's blog, Tutus and Tea Parties, on Sunday November 11th and will be open for a week. All the proceeds made from the auction will be donated to Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts.

I'd like to thank Lauren and the other wonderful ladies helping to promote this fundraising event:
