IMPORTANT NOTE

Hello, and welcome.
I would like to inform you that I AM MOVING.
...well, sort of. I have started a new blog, Oui Crochet, that focuses just on crochet, crochet patterns, and crochet resources. I am in the process of building it up as a one stop shop for all things crochet, and I am very excited about it. I hope you will come over and check out my progress. :)
I will be moving my patterns from this site, to my new site. My idea is to leave this site active, so that you can still access other aspects of this site. I will also leave a modified "introduction" post where each pattern is on this site, as to keep all links active and make it so that you can easily locate the pattern's new home. As an added bonus, you will also find new printable/downloadable versions of my patterns.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I assure you, this change is a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at Oui Crochet.
Happy Crocheting!

Bloggy New Years Resolutions!

Do you make New Years Resolutions?
I usually don't, but this year I decided I would do a take on it. There are some things that I have been putting off doing wanting to do with my blog. I thought that putting them "out there" and sharing them with you would be just the kick in the pants motivation I need.
If you are  a blogger, and you have your own Bloggy Resolutions post, I'd love for you to share by linking up to the Inlinkz at the end of this post.
Here goes:
  1. Fine Tune My Blog Design- There are a lot of little things that need to be cleaned up around here. The changes won't be big, but hopefully they will make things a little tidier here.
  2. Update My Pages- This is something that I have already started, but need to finish. I plan to have a visual directory on each page with thumbnails for easier navigation for my readers. I hope to  will keep it updated weekly.
  3. Be More Active in Social Media- I will update and connect more with my readers via social media. If you don't already, you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest.
  4. Giveaways- I just have so much fun with giveaways, and I love "giving back" to my readers, so I hope to have more super exciting giveaways this year!
  5. Weekly Crochet Square- For my crochet friends- I am planning on making a square a week and sharing it with you. At the end of the year... well, probably the beginning of the next year... I will bind those squares into an afghan, and share the final product with you! I hope that some of you will crochet the year-long afghan with me!
  6. Monthly Newsletter- I am toying with the idea of a monthly newsletter, of sorts. This is basically just a recap of the month's recipes, crochet patterns, homeschool activities, and travel tips... or whatever else I've had going on that month. I'd love some feedback on that. Would you be interested in a monthly email from Earning-My-Cape?
  7. Bloggy Girls Club Blog- I want to get my second blog up and running! I started the Bloggy Girls Club group on Facebook a few months back, and it has turned into such a wonderful resource to many bloggers. I feel the group deserves a blog of it's own, so look for some exciting things to come over there. If you'd like to join the group, you can request to join HERE. You can visit the blog (in progress) HERE.
There you have it. Short and simple.
What resolutions (bloggy or not) do you have for this year?

How to Adjust Your Pages Tabs

Let me start by saying that I have very little HTML and CSS knowledge. My kids, however, have a lot.
They try to teach me.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
This time, it did. Yay me! (and them!)

When I was messing around with my blog a couple of weeks ago, I needed to fiddle with something on my sidebar, but I didn't know where to find it. My son showed me a neat little thing. He right-clicked on the thing I wanted to adjust, and clicked "Inspect Element". He mumbles something about this working in Google Chrome... I didn't really listen, since I always use Chrome. So, I'm not sure if it works in other browsers.
Anyway...I wanted to make the text in my Pages Tabs bar (you know... the one right under my banner comic) a little bigger, but I wanted to keep the bar all on one line. This meant that I needed to change the width of the spaces between the pages (text) in my Pages Tabs bar .  My son isn't home. Can't ask him.
I decided to try it on my own. I right clicked, made my selection, and the page elements came up.
Um... yeah... OK.
I was about to give up and wait for my son when I noticed some CSS on the right. I scrolled through it, and coupling it with what I learned the other day when I was changing stuff on the sidebar, I found what I thought could be the CSS I needed.

It turns out that the change was super easy! (And much quicker than writing this blog post about it!)
