IMPORTANT NOTE

Hello, and welcome.
I would like to inform you that I AM MOVING.
...well, sort of. I have started a new blog, Oui Crochet, that focuses just on crochet, crochet patterns, and crochet resources. I am in the process of building it up as a one stop shop for all things crochet, and I am very excited about it. I hope you will come over and check out my progress. :)
I will be moving my patterns from this site, to my new site. My idea is to leave this site active, so that you can still access other aspects of this site. I will also leave a modified "introduction" post where each pattern is on this site, as to keep all links active and make it so that you can easily locate the pattern's new home. As an added bonus, you will also find new printable/downloadable versions of my patterns.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I assure you, this change is a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at Oui Crochet.
Happy Crocheting!

Weekly Crochet Square: Squares 14 & 15

Yes... that's right... 14 and 15.
I admit it... I slacked.
I am working on catching up, though! I should be all caught up by next Friday. Yay!
Square 14 is a simple stitch with a slightly lacy effect. It is called a V-stitch, and it is made up of double crochets and a chain.
Square 15 is one that I think is really pretty. It it is a version of a cable stitch, made up of double crochet stitches with alternating rows of single crochet stitches.

V-Stitch Square
What You Need:
Size J crochet hook
worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart in Lavender)

Special Stitch:
V-Stitch- a V-stitch is simply completed by working a double crochet, chain 1, double crochet (dc,ch 1, dc), all in the same stitch.

What You Do:
Chain 27
Row 1: V-stitch in the 5th ch from hook, [skip 1 stitch, v-stitch in the next stitch] repeat across. Work a dc in the last stitch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 4, [v-stitch in the ch 1 space of the next v-st of the previous row, ch 1] repeat across. Work a dc in the third ch of the turning ch. Turn.
Rows 3-13: Repeat row 4.

Cable Stitch Square:
What You Need:
Size J crochet hook
worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart in Lavender)

Special Stitch:
Cable Stitch- Skip one stitch, work a dc in each of the next three stitches, then go back to the skipped stitch and yarn over, insert hook from front  to back, loosely draw through a loop and bring it up to the top where the third dc is made, then complete the dc.

What You Do:
Chain 31
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, and in each across. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, [skip 1 sc, dc in each of the next 3 sc, dc in the skipped sc to complete the cable stitch] repeat across, dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in each dc across. Turn.
Rows 4-17: Repeat rows 2 and 3.
