IMPORTANT NOTE

Hello, and welcome.
I would like to inform you that I AM MOVING.
...well, sort of. I have started a new blog, Oui Crochet, that focuses just on crochet, crochet patterns, and crochet resources. I am in the process of building it up as a one stop shop for all things crochet, and I am very excited about it. I hope you will come over and check out my progress. :)
I will be moving my patterns from this site, to my new site. My idea is to leave this site active, so that you can still access other aspects of this site. I will also leave a modified "introduction" post where each pattern is on this site, as to keep all links active and make it so that you can easily locate the pattern's new home. As an added bonus, you will also find new printable/downloadable versions of my patterns.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I assure you, this change is a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at Oui Crochet.
Happy Crocheting!

Snickerdoodle Cookies

You may have noticed that I am on a cookie kick lately.
What can I say... I LOVE cookies. My kids LOVE cookies. My husband LOVES cookies. I LOVE baking cookies.
So you know how fall and baking kind of go hand in hand?
Yeah... you might see a few cookie recipes here in the following weeks.
I already shared my family's favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies with you earlier this week.
Here is our favorite sugar cookie variety... SNICKERDOODLES!

They are yummy, chewy, and super easy to make!

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

***This is an old post moved here from my old blog.***

It's that time of year again! You know what I'm talking about... PUMPKIN SEASON!!! ...er...um...uh... I mean... Autumn. Same thing though, right? I have to confess that it was only a couple of weeks ago that I tasted my very first "coffee house" Pumpkin Spiced Latte. YUM! I immediately went on a search for recipes to replicate this delicious Autumn-y goodness. I ended up finding a big bunch of similar recipes, read through all of them, then did what I frequently do- borrow from them and make up my own recipe. My first try was pretty close to most of the recipes I found. It was good, but lacked the WOW- factor. A lil' more pumpkin and a lil' sweetener were in store. I played around with the recipe over the next couple of evenings, then I came up with a hit!

Here it is:

Pumpkin Spiced Latte
Makes 2-3 servings

Ingredients:
1 cup very strong brewed coffee
1 1/2 cup milk
4 TB cooked pumpkin puree (I just used the canned stuff)
Generous 2 1/2 TB sugar or 4 packets Splenda (adjust, depending on how sweet you like it)
1 TB vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Optional: Whipped cream and ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Combine the milk, pumpkin and sugar or Splenda in a medium saucepan. Heat on medium heat until very hot and almost to a boil. DO NOT LET IT BOIL.
  2. Remove from heat and add spice and vanilla. Use a whisk, hand mixer, or stick blender to whip up the milk. (I used my Cuisinart Hand Blender). Whip it up until it is nice and frothy.
  3. Add the coffee to the milk mixture and divide into 2 large or 3 average-sized mugs.
  4. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon if desired.
  5. Enjoy!

Super Link Party
You all are awesome! I was unexpectedly away from my computer for a couple of days, but I had my party scheduled to post. You all showed up and linked your latest! Because I am short on time this week, I probably won't be able to comment on or pin all of them this week. I do promise to visit each link, though! And I will really, really try to get them all pinned! I appreciate your understanding!
Also, if you would like to guest host my Super Link Party for a week, please contact me!

So, that's what I have going on. I also have some ideas and plans to add to my blog. I've been thinking of including a travel category. My husband has to travel for work a lot, and many of those times, our entire family packs up and joins him. I will share with you my tips on traveling with kids while homeschooling, blogging, and keeping up with my crochet projects!

Have a wonderful weekend!

One Lovely Blog Award!

Lookie! Lookie!!! I just received the One Lovely Blog Award!!!
A great big thank you goes to Julie at Hey Mommy, Chocolate Milk
for nominating me! This is such an honor!
If you haven't already, I encourage you to check out Julie's blog!
She shares some really fun and educational projects that she does with her son.
If you have little ones, you don't want to miss out!

Back to the Award...
Here's how it works:

Rules to follow:
*Include the blog award in your post (check)
*Thank the person who nominated you (check)
*Nominate 5 people and let them know you have done so
*Tell 7 random things about yourself

My nominees are........
(Seriously?... Only 5? This is gonna be difficult!)

Tutus & Tea Parties (Because Lauren is awesome! I love her blog and                                                      she taught me the term "blog stalking", which made me laugh, because I was already blog stalking her!)

Worst Mom Ever (Because Patricia is really one of the best moms ever, and I love reading her blog!)

The Nerdy Farm Wife (Because Jan is the coolest "nerd" there is! When I grow up, I want to be like her... yes... I know I am older than she is... but still!)

Simply Real Moms (Because Jasmine, Erin, and Marcie work so hard to share awesome advice and ideas for moms everywhere!)

My Merry Messy Life  (Because Sara shares some awesome green living tips and beautiful crochet patterns, among other things!

Now for 7 random things about myself....

  1. I love football... particularly the 49ers. During football season, I will plan my Sundays around watching the games!
  2. I have a slight cookie obsession. I love to bake them as much as I love to eat them.
  3. I haven't pumped gas in over 22 years. My husband always makes the trip to the gas station.
  4. I have a fascination for old trucks, and I aspire to buy one and learn to fix it up myself.
  5. I like a lot of different kinds of music (not rap or hip hop... I said music. lol) I particularly love The Traveling Wilburys!
  6. I have some "Mama Bear" in me. I just don't play well with those who don't treat my kids right.
  7. I am really, really good at procrastinating. There have been a few Christmases when we didn't do our shopping until a few days before!
