IMPORTANT NOTE

Hello, and welcome.
I would like to inform you that I AM MOVING.
...well, sort of. I have started a new blog, Oui Crochet, that focuses just on crochet, crochet patterns, and crochet resources. I am in the process of building it up as a one stop shop for all things crochet, and I am very excited about it. I hope you will come over and check out my progress. :)
I will be moving my patterns from this site, to my new site. My idea is to leave this site active, so that you can still access other aspects of this site. I will also leave a modified "introduction" post where each pattern is on this site, as to keep all links active and make it so that you can easily locate the pattern's new home. As an added bonus, you will also find new printable/downloadable versions of my patterns.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I assure you, this change is a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at Oui Crochet.
Happy Crocheting!

Got Stress? Act Like a One Year Old!

This is my friend Cassondra's handsome
little man, Logan! Isn't he a cutie?

Yup! You read that correctly!
The thought occurred to me the other night... or was it morning?
Either way, I was lying in bed and I remembered something that needed to be done. I looked over at my peacefully sleeping 1 1/2 year old and marveled over the stress-free life she has.
Ahhh... to feel like that.
Then I thought to myself, "what am I complaining about? I do feel like that... most of the time" and at that very moment, I realized why.
I act like a one year old.
There. I admitted it!
It's not a bad thing, though, if you think about it.
I mean, what does a one year old do when she gets upset?
Maybe someone took her toy away. Maybe she is hungry. Maybe she wanted to sit in that spot. Whatever the reason, she is upset, so what does she do?
She whines, cries, and lets it all out.
Then, what happens? Five minutes later she is happily playing with her toys.

When I get a bill in the mail that was supposed to be covered by the insurance, when people try to suck me into their drama, when the clerk at the grocery store is exceptionally rude, when I am being overcharged for something, or even when the kids are squabbling... I act like a one year old!
Okay, maybe not to that same degree. Sure, I may whine a little. I will probably yell a little. If absolutely necessary, I may even shed a tear. And you know what? I feel better afterward. Do you know why? It's because, like a one year old, I deal with the issue as it comes. I don't bottle it up "for the sake of peace". I don't  "let it go", even though addressing it may not be the most popular (or most peaceful) thing to do. If I hold onto an issue, I suffer. I get stressed, and my whole family suffers. By dealing with things as they come, I am able to release a ton of stress that I don't need or want.

So, next time you encounter a stressful situation, try it. Act like a one year old. You will feel so much better!

  1. You are so right with this. I feel a lot better too after I have a "good cry", although I do wait until I have bottled up so much raw emotion to the point where I literally explode at the littlest thing and THEN let it all out! This is an interesting take on coping with everyday annoyances...I think you are on to something, lady!

Seriously, though...it would be pretty hilarious to see a grown woman bawling like a baby in public :D

    1. Haha! It would! I don't cry at every little thing, but I certainly do "release" when necessary. Yeah... I yell if I have to. lol. But, most importantly, I address the cause immediately whenever possible. :-)

  2. What a great idea! I am going to give myself permission to whine and through a mini-temper tantrum for 5 minutes next time something really makes me angry.
