The stitch is easy. It has alternating rows of single crochet (sc) stitches in one row, and a combo of sc, chain (ch), and, half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the next. The texture is made with the sc row. You will work behind the ch 2 of the previous row (pushing the ch 2 forward) and make your sc stitches in the sc stitches of the previous row. Trust me... it isn't as confusing as I just made it sound. I promise! Just follow step by step, and you will pick it up right away.
Soft Textured Square
What You Need:
Size I crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn
What You Do:
Ch 21
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each across. Turn. (20)
Row 2: Ch 1, skip first sc, (sc, ch 2, hdc) in next sc, [skip next sc, (sc, ch 2, hdc) in next sc] across, sc in the last sc. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, working behind the ch 2 space (basically, just pushing the ch 2 to the front of the work) make 2 sc in each sc of the previous row. Turn. (20)
Row 4-19: Repeat rows 2 and 3.
Row 20: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. (20)
