Weekly Crochet Square: Square 13


I love squares that are worked from the center. This week's square is worked in this way, with a little twist... there is a cute little flower in the middle!
This square would look great with contrasting colors for the flower and the rest of the square, too.




Flower Center Square
What You Need:

Size K crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn

Special stitches: CL2: [yarn over, draw up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook] twice, yarn over, draw through all 3 loops.
CL3:  [yarn over, draw up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook] three times, yarn over, draw through all 4 loops.

What You Do:
Ch 4. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring. Join to first sc with slip stitch.
Round 2: (ch 3, cl2) in first sc, ch 4 [cl4 in next sc, ch 4] 7 times. Join to top of beginning cluster.
Round 3: [sc in ch 4 sp, ch3, sc in same space, sc in next st, sc 2 in next ch 4 space, sc in next st] repeat around. Sl st to first sc to join.
Rounds 4-8: Ch 1 (counts as sc) [ sc in ch3 space, ch 3, sc in same space, sc in each sc across] repeat around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Round 9: Ch 3, [dc in ch 3 space, ch 3, dc in same space, dc in each stitch across] repeat around. Join with sl st to first dc. Finish off.
