Quick Crochet Toddler Tote (Free Pattern)

A while back, I made a couple of little crochet purses for my 5 and 7 year old daughters. Well, lately, they have been playing dress up with their (19 month old) little sister. They dress her up in various clothes and accessories. A few days ago, one of the accessories was one of their little pursed. Baby sister LOVED it! She played with it half the day, putting various toys in it.
I decided that she needed a little purse of her own.

I knew I wanted to make her purse different than her sisters', but I wasn't sure on the style at first. I contemplated a squared shape with a large flap and a button to close it, but I realized that it might be too difficult for her to work with the button. I just finished a really cook beach tote (no post on it yet) a couple nights ago, and thought a tote would be a good way to go for her.

I wanted something simple and something quick. This only took me about 2 1/2 hours to make.

  4. Thanks, Tiffany!
My daughter seems to think that because there are 2 handles, she needs to slip one on each arm. She walked around half the day like that, a few days ago! LOL

  5. Love this! Back in the day I crocheted a purse for myself using two skeins at the same time, it made a pretty variegated 'fabric'.
