Peppered Turkey Lettuce Wrap

When I first started this blog, I decided that I would post about both my triumphs and my failures. This post is a little of both.

Here is how it all began.
We had some really yummy peppered turkey lunchmeat that my husband had picked up from the deli for sandwiches the other night. I was looking forward to having some off the leftovers for lunch.... BUT... between everyone having sourdough toast in the morning and my kids wanting grilled cheese on wheat for lunch... that left me with no bread!

So I figured...
We had lettuce.
I've seen lettuce wraps before.
How hard can it be?

With that, I decided to make a super awesome Peppered Turkey Lettuce Wrap.

I washed up my veggies and grabbed a plate.
I put a few pieces of lettuce on the bottom, then I topped it with:

  • Peppered Turkey deli meat
  • sliced tomatoes
  • sliced red onion
  • sliced olives
  • a few shavings of extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • and a drizzle of some yummy Cheese and Garlic Italian Dressing
  • Then, I sprinkled a little more pepper on it.
This is what it looked like.

Then I tried to roll it.
How the heck do they do that???
Mine kept falling apart!
After I got it somewhat rolled, I sliced it in half and tried to adjust the lettuce so that it didn't look like it was falling apart. You know... so I could show you all a good picture...
Well... here's what I ended up with.

Not as pretty as I had hoped... and it kinda fell apart while I was eating it... BUT...
It was really, really yummy!!! So, I guess that counts for something, right?

  1. Your turkey roll looks delicious! The secret to rolling a perfect lettuce wrap is to use bib lettuce. They have nice big leaves with no hard stems. Hope you have a wonderful night!
