Sorry, no ham.
My kids love the book Green Eggs And Ham... I mean, who doesn't? I was thinking that green eggs for St. Patrick's Day would be fun, but I didn't want to do the yucky-looking, scrambled, green eggs.
Then I got an idea, so I had to try it out ahead of time.
Here's what I did:
1. Break the egg into a bowl, but make sure you don't break the yolk.
Add a few drops of green food coloring to the "white" part of the egg. (I used a gel food coloring... I am sure a liquid food coloring would work much better.)
2. Whisk the food coloring in, being careful to not break the egg yolk. I used a spoon to help keep the yolk aside.
3.It will look something like this when you have whisked the coloring in enough.
4. Fry it up.
In my haste (sorry, busy week... here's why), I didn't use enough butter in my supposedly non-stick skillet, so when I went to turn it... well.. you know.
Not too pretty.
BUT, the green was brilliant.
And the method works. So, of course, I had to share!
Enjoy!
Fantastic! Please drop me a line on ca4ole@gmail.com if it is ok with you if I link to it on my blog, Carole's Chatter. Cheers
